Weekend loans

What is possible, and what is not.

Emergencies don’t check the calendar. A car repair on a Saturday morning, a bill that can’t wait until Monday, rent to top up before it’s due: sometimes the need shows up on a weekend. That’s when people look for weekend loans, and when a straight answer matters most.

At Money911, the online form is open anytime, so you can send your request on a Saturday or a Sunday. The timing of the money then follows two published rules, and both start once your request is approved and the lender’s contract is signed. This guide covers what is possible, what is not, and how to get ready.

What is a weekend loan?

It isn’t a separate product. A weekend loan is a loan you apply for on a Saturday or a Sunday, because an expense can’t wait for the week to start. What changes is the timing: when your request is reviewed, when you sign the lender’s contract and when the money is deposited.

A few situations where the question comes up:

  • a home repair that can’t wait until Monday;
  • a car breakdown when you need the car to get to work;
  • a bill with a due date that won’t move.

Looking for weekend payday loans? Money911 isn’t a lender: we’re a co-borrower service. A separate lender provides the loan, and the number and frequency of payments are set in its contract.

Applying on a weekend

A request sent on a Saturday or a Sunday goes through the same steps as any other:

  1. The online request. The online form is open anytime.
  2. Instant bank verification (IBV). It sends us a read-only copy of your statement. We never see your username or password.
  3. The review. Every request is reviewed for your ability to repay; a request judged too risky is refused. Approval is not guaranteed.
  4. The contract, then the deposit. The lender sends you its contract, and you read it before you sign.

The two deposit rules below apply once your request is approved and the contract is signed. Any other timing, including for a request sent on a weekend or a holiday, depends on approval and on the signature of the lender’s contract. Our page on how a request works covers each step in detail.

The 11:30 a.m. cut-off for direct deposit

Direct deposit follows a precise rule. Request approved and signed contract back before 11:30 a.m.: deposit the same day, between noon and midnight. After 11:30 a.m.: the next day.

Both conditions count: the request has to be approved, and the signed contract has to be back. Sending the form early isn’t enough on its own; the return of the signed contract sets the deposit day. If you apply on a weekend, keep this in mind: the rule runs from the signed contract, not from the form.

Our guide to same-day loans walks through the rule with an example.

Online form, then read-only bank verification. You read the lender’s contract before you sign.

Interac e-Transfer timing

The other way to get the money is Interac e-Transfer. Choose Interac e-Transfer in your request: once you’re approved and the contract is signed, the money lands within the hour. An extra fee applies.

It’s a box you tick in the form, so decide before you send your request. Our page on e-Transfer loans compares both ways to get the money.

These two rules are the deposit timings we publish. Any other timing, weekends included, depends on approval and on the signature of the lender’s contract.

When a weekend loan makes sense

A loan can make sense when an expense is real, urgent and one-time: paying a bill before its due date, fixing the car that gets you to work, covering a cost that can’t wait. It works best when:

  • the amount matches the actual need;
  • you know how the payments fit your budget;
  • other options, like an arrangement with the person you owe, aren’t available.

Think of it as a bridge, not a habit. If you find yourself borrowing most weekends, take time to review your budget first.

In your favour

  • You can send your request when the need comes up: the online form is open anytime.
  • The criteria and the reasons for a refusal are published, so you know what to expect before you start.
  • The bank verification is read-only, with no access to your username or password.
  • Both deposit rules are known in advance, with their conditions.

Worth weighing

  • The review and the contract signature come before any deposit, and approval is not guaranteed.
  • Interac e-Transfer comes with an extra fee.
  • Several small loans at once can outgrow your budget.
  • A decision made in a rush can lead to borrowing more than you need.

If more than one of these points applies to you, take a moment to ask whether the loan is truly necessary.

Preparing your request ahead

A little preparation now saves time when the weekend comes:

  • Check the criteria. 18 or older, living in Canada, a stable job, pay deposited into a Canadian bank account, net income of at least $1,500 a month, and no consumer proposal, debt consolidation or bankruptcy in the last 30 days, with none planned in the next 6 months.
  • Plan for the bank verification. IBV is part of every request, and a missing IBV is one of the published reasons for a refusal.
  • Choose the amount you need in your request. Ask for what the situation calls for, no more.
  • Pick how you’ll get the money. Interac e-Transfer, with an extra fee, or direct deposit under the 11:30 a.m. rule.
  • Read the lender’s contract before you sign. The applicable terms are in it, and no payment or advance is required at signing.

Compare the offers you receive and read every contract before you sign. And avoid stacking loans from several lenders: the payments can outgrow your budget.

What Money911 does

Money911 is your co-borrower; a separate lender provides the loan. A co-borrower commits to the loan with you, which lowers the lender’s risk. At Money911, that co-borrower is us. No co-borrower in your circle? Money911 commits to the loan with you.

Money911 is a co-borrower service run by 14802675 Canada Inc., with a place of business in Québec City, serving people across Canada in English and French. Our page on the co-borrower service explains it in full.

Your weekend doesn’t have to turn into a race. Check the criteria, get ready for the bank verification and, when everything is in place, send your request. If your need comes from a specific situation, like rent or a repair, our guide to emergency loans by situation can help you choose.
